I am going in later this week for my gestational diabetes test, and will have a follow-up appt with my Obstetrician on Oct 6th, I believe to go over the test results. I have been taking my prenatal vitamins regularly with an additional Omega-3 oil tablet and thus far have had no comments from my Dr, except that both I and the baby seem to be doing "excellent".
My appetite seems to be hearty and diverse. David has been making me these awesome fruit and protein smoothies a few times a week which I love. I have noticed that I am always thirsty, especially at night. I wake up parched in the middle of the night and in the morning and have had a dry, scratchy throat on occasion. My cousin (who is also pregnant right now, with twin girls!) says that she drinks almost a whole liter of water in the middle of the night during her various trips to the bathroom (my guess is that her trips to the bathroom may have something to do with all this water she is drinking at night...). I have been sleeping pretty well through the night, but perhaps need to be drinking more water throughout the day.
Here's a photo of me from last week at 24 wks pregnant - the baby is supposedly the size of a cantaloupe:
David and I will take another photo tonight at 25 wks. We've been less than stellar about taking weekly photos, but have cobbled quite a few of them together in our collection, so it should be alright in the end once they're all in a line.
I have definitely noticed that I've gotten bigger lately. I am having more trouble tying my shoes, and bending over than I have had up till now. I actually went out and bought a few maternity items on Sunday to have some warmer clothes for the winter. Most of the things I have are for the spring/summer so I'm still on the lookout for a fall/winter jacket or some type of shawl/poncho thing to layer under. My mother-in-law and I may find something on our mother-in-law/daughter-in-law shopping trip this week. I've done more new clothes shopping for myself while pregnant than I've done in 5 years!
I also started a baby shower registry. It's not really all that filled out, because the site I chose is limited in their selection. It's on "Momma's Baby" which has a selection of natural and organic offerings, but I may see if I can find a site with a combo of stuff for other items that we might need.
Today I have been painting our kitchen with the brown latex paint that goes on the walls. The pic below is from last night.
For some reason today I keep getting dizzy even while wearing my respirator, so I've been taking breaks and stepping outside for fresh air. The weather today is beautiful which is a big help. David has a little more oil painting to do to touch-up certain spots on the woodwork, but once that's done, we will be done with the painting and will be able to move on to installing the floors and the dishwasher. We are so close to being done...I can't wait to put everything back in the kitchen and have things somewhat back to normal. It's amazing how much having a kitchen in the middle of renovation can throw your routine off!
Well, I am going to get back to painting for a while to get at least one coat on everything that needs painting.
-Sita.
