So, we haven't blogged in a long time...we are at 37 wks already and are doing great.
Since the last post we got in a car accident and I broke 3 metatarsals in my right foot and am just now getting to the point where I am more or less walking around.
Baby J has grown a lot since September...my belly officially blocks the view of my feet when I'm standing. I feel very fortunate to have had what I consider to be a great pregnancy (aside from the broken foot and related back spasms, etc). I have heard horror stories of women who were sick throughout their pregnancies and -knock on wood- I have been pretty lucky with my health.
David and I have finished our kitchen, have begun working on the entryway to the apt again, and have organized the baby area fairly well so far. We still have a bunch of things to do...but we are much closer this week than we were last week to having Baby J come home with us and have a place to sleep!
We also got a new car that replaces the civic that got totaled in the car accident on 9/27/08. It's a Jetta Sportswagen TDI so it gets b/w 40-50mpg on diesel. We made sure the new carseat fits in it when we test drove it...we've only had it since last Wed-12/10/08!
We've had all of our baby showers and have pretty much everything we feel we really *need* for Baby J to arrive. We definitely will need some start diapers, but other than that I think we are pretty well set. I may change my tune when Baby J arrives and there are 50 things that I hadn't thought of that would be useful, but for now, I think we are pretty much set.
Will post my wk 37 pic when we take it tomorrow.

25 wks today!
So, today I am 25 wks pregnant. I just ate lunch (chicken salad with celery, pasta and peas) and the baby seems to be pretty active since I finished eating.
I am going in later this week for my gestational diabetes test, and will have a follow-up appt with my Obstetrician on Oct 6th, I believe to go over the test results. I have been taking my prenatal vitamins regularly with an additional Omega-3 oil tablet and thus far have had no comments from my Dr, except that both I and the baby seem to be doing "excellent".
My appetite seems to be hearty and diverse. David has been making me these awesome fruit and protein smoothies a few times a week which I love. I have noticed that I am always thirsty, especially at night. I wake up parched in the middle of the night and in the morning and have had a dry, scratchy throat on occasion. My cousin (who is also pregnant right now, with twin girls!) says that she drinks almost a whole liter of water in the middle of the night during her various trips to the bathroom (my guess is that her trips to the bathroom may have something to do with all this water she is drinking at night...). I have been sleeping pretty well through the night, but perhaps need to be drinking more water throughout the day.
Here's a photo of me from last week at 24 wks pregnant - the baby is supposedly the size of a cantaloupe:

David and I will take another photo tonight at 25 wks. We've been less than stellar about taking weekly photos, but have cobbled quite a few of them together in our collection, so it should be alright in the end once they're all in a line.
I have definitely noticed that I've gotten bigger lately. I am having more trouble tying my shoes, and bending over than I have had up till now. I actually went out and bought a few maternity items on Sunday to have some warmer clothes for the winter. Most of the things I have are for the spring/summer so I'm still on the lookout for a fall/winter jacket or some type of shawl/poncho thing to layer under. My mother-in-law and I may find something on our mother-in-law/daughter-in-law shopping trip this week. I've done more new clothes shopping for myself while pregnant than I've done in 5 years!
I also started a baby shower registry. It's not really all that filled out, because the site I chose is limited in their selection. It's on "Momma's Baby" which has a selection of natural and organic offerings, but I may see if I can find a site with a combo of stuff for other items that we might need.
Today I have been painting our kitchen with the brown latex paint that goes on the walls. The pic below is from last night.

For some reason today I keep getting dizzy even while wearing my respirator, so I've been taking breaks and stepping outside for fresh air. The weather today is beautiful which is a big help. David has a little more oil painting to do to touch-up certain spots on the woodwork, but once that's done, we will be done with the painting and will be able to move on to installing the floors and the dishwasher. We are so close to being done...I can't wait to put everything back in the kitchen and have things somewhat back to normal. It's amazing how much having a kitchen in the middle of renovation can throw your routine off!
Well, I am going to get back to painting for a while to get at least one coat on everything that needs painting.

baby jesser's musical selections today
Played another 10 songs for the baby today...here's how it responded.
1. Coldplay - See You Soon (acoustic)
- even though this was the first song, not too much stirring...surprising since all the other times the baby has moved around right when the music starts.
2. I Wear my Sunglasses at Night - Corey Hart
- a bit of jostling throughout song.
3. Then He Kissed Me - The Crystals
- not much movement in beginning, then picked up halfway thru.
4. Pictures of You - The Cure
- very little movement
5. Was in Der Zertung Steht - D.O.C.H.!
- surprisingly very little movement during this very upbeat song!
6. Après La Pluie - Daniel Mille
- no movement at all that I could tell, perhaps because it is an instrumental?
7. Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat) - Digable Planets
- consistent movement throughout song...perhaps dancing? ;)
8. Days Go By (Remix) - Dirty Vegas
- very little movement, an occasional little poke.
9. Summertime - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
- a few big moves at the end
10. Jolene - Dolly Parton
- not much movement till the very end.
That's the music playing session for today.

Playing music to Baby Jesser
I made a playlist of all kinds of different music from all around the world, and David likes me to keep track of how the baby reacts to it in my womb.
Last week I played these songs to my belly:
Take on me - Ah-ha
Agua De Beber - Astrud Gilberto
Cruel Summer - Bananarama
Detlef Schrempf - Band Of Horses
Beethoveen - 6th Symphony - Beethoven
5th Symphony 1st Movement - Beethoven
All Is Full of Love - Bjork
Yesterday - Bob Dylan
No Woman, No Cry (Live) - Bob Marley
I Cant Make You love me - Bonnie Raitt
The baby seemed to move a lot when the music first started, then was fairly calm until Bob Dylan came on...when it started to get restless again. It calmed a lot for Bob Marley and Bonnie Raitt, and didn't move all that much after the music stopped.
Today I played these songs for the baby:
Don't Stop - Brazilian Girls
First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes
I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen
Summer Of '69 - Bryan Adams
Kara Cali - Burhan Öçal & The Trakya All Stars
so capoeira - Capoeira Brasil (Capoeira Regional
zum zum zum - Capoeira Brasil (Capoeira Regional)
Quelqu'un M'a Dit - Carla Bruni
Honestly - Cary Brothers
Sideways - Citizen Cope ft. Santana
Again it was active when the music first started, but calmed throughout the first song by the Brazilian Girls, then was pretty active during Bright Eyes and Springsteen, calm during Bryan Adams till near the end of the song. It was calm during the Turkish song "Kara Cali", both of the Capoeira Brasil songs and Carla Bruni. Activity picked up again during Cary Brothers and Citizen Cope. Activity slowed down to normal after the music stopped.
That's the in utero music report for today. More next time.

Baby Jesser is now 6 months old in utero.
David and I are very excited to announce that our still-gestating-child is 23 weeks old as of yesterday.
Here's my belly as of 21 wks...more recent pic, coming soon!

We are not finding out whether it is a boy or girl, and we're not going to tell anyone names that we have been contemplating. Just keeps it simpler.
We will attempt to keep this blog updated with latest pics and info, so feel free to check back occasionally.
